Reasons I Cannot Attend Your Event:

Reasons I Cannot Attend Your Event:

1. I will be cleaning out my Tivo list
2. I am almost finished stacking my medicine containers in a pyramid
3. I have too many medications to take at intervals you would never understand
4. I need to test my sofa's firmness level
5. I have decided that this year is not my year
6. I have infomercials to watch
7. I can't remember your name
8. I didn't know I was still related to all of you
9. I only hang with lymies
10. I have been so out of the loop that i don't understand the new slang terms
11. I will have inappropriate pauses in my speech that will make all of you uncomfortable
12. Nothing clean to wear
13. I can safely drive there but not home
14. I can no longer find your house... or the store... or anything
15. that is the night I already decided i would vacuum my house this year. Bummer.
16. When you ask me to make a salad for 40 and i do it, you say it is too heavy to pass and nobody likes salad
17. Remember you said I ruined the last wedding because I had to leave at 11:30 pm
18. Remember you told me I am no fun because I can't drink while on my meds... and, I learned you are not fun when you drink
19. I might fly into a Lyme rage and bite you.... causing YOU to get Lyme
20. Actually, I cannot come because all this time I didn't have Lyme disease... I have had cancer... I just lied so I could see what you are all REALLY like.
21. I have a doctor appointment with my crazy doctor... Isn't that what you all call him??
22. My FaceBook friends need me that night
23. When you said shopping, did you mean walking at the mall or online shopping? I love the online... oh, mall... I cannot walk that far any longer...

2012 New Year's Resolutions for Lymies

Add yours to the comments and I'll add it :)

2012 New Year's Resolutions for Lymies:

1. Decline EVEN more invitations than in 2011
2. Sleep EVEN MORE than I have ever slept so I can get in the Book of world Records
3. Meet a few more doctors and hear them say it is all in my head... the new vocabulary might help me with my word problems
4. Try not to laugh when someone declares it was just a bug bite
5. Get that last Tick Borne disease I missed... I don't wanna fail at this
6. Forget even more crap I never really needed to know in order to survive
7. Get my telephone number tattooed on my wrist to simplify my life
8. Bore everyone with the details of my preferred disease... I really wish I had gotten Turrett's just so I could violently swear and bark with a valid excuse
9. Enlarge my dark circles underneath my eyes
10. Watch an entire show without falling asleep
11. Use my very last ounce of energy to tell off a certain someone
12. Find better excuses for declining events... like I will be busy puking my guts out or I have too many meds to take or i can't stay awake through their monotony...
13. Find a polite way to say, "I woudn't waste my last drop of energy on you."
14. Find a way not to puke over Doxycyclene
15. Relearn 5 names and have them come out when I say them
16. Find a new hairdo besides a ponytail that should've been washed days ago
17. Tell people they haven't seen me in a while because I was in Hawaii
18. Manage to stomach the pharmacist's look of disgust as he hands me my medications like I am a drug addict. As if I take Ketek for the high...
19. Remember that is it not all about me like that one snotty relative keeps saying
20. Take my medicine containers out to the recycling bin

The Lyme Life

I am asking, no begging, no pleading with my friends to please read my friend Kenny's blog. He has such great ways of putting things and explaining our plight with Lyme. If you ever go blank, like I do, on how to explain to someone why we can't get treatment, or why lyme is not recognized or taken seriously. Please just direct these people here:

New Borrelia Culture Test - Faster & More Accurate

September 5, 2011 Joe Burrascano, Jr., MD has announced a new lab test available for Lyme doctors to use in determining if Lyme is present. There is no need to wait for antibodies to form since this is a culture-based test. This should provide much faster and more accurate detection, and allow Lyme patients to receive treatment as soon as possible. Please read below for Dr. Burrascano's description of the new test:

I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of my nose.

I am thankful I can see much to admire in all religions.

Appreciation is the highest form of prayer, for it acknowledges the presence of good wherever you shine the light of your thankful thoughts.

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.

God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say "thank you?" ~William A. Ward

Silent gratitude isn't much use to anyone. ~G.B. Stern

If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, "thank you," that would suffice. ~Meister Eckhart

The only people with whom you should try to get even are those who have helped you. ~John E. Southard

Gratitude is the best attitude. ~Author Unknown

Thou hast given so much to me,
Give one thing more, - a grateful heart;
Not thankful when it pleaseth me,
As if Thy blessings had spare days,
But such a heart whose pulse may be Thy praise.

Dr. Hoffmann’s license has been suspended

Message from Mike From the Wisc Lyme Yahoo Board:

Re: Dr. Hoffmann
It has come to my attention that Dr. Hoffmann’s license has been suspended. The suspension may go into effect next week. The attorney assured us a deal was in place and there was no need for concern. Obviously this is not the case.

I’m speaking with several folks involved in this matter and trying to get a clear picture of what transpired. I should have a further update later this evening. It’s very suspicious to me that a deal is struck, folks are informed not to show up for the hearing and then a suspension is ordered.

The hearing room was packed with TV crews today to cover the case against Doctor’s writing absentee excuses for protesters in the state capitol this past March.
I will update as I get info.

Daryl Hall's Experience With Lyme

Listen to Daryl Hall talk about his experience with Lyme Disease. Did you know his whole family has it?

A-Bart

Introduction to the Byron White Formulas and Their Use in Lyme Disease So many people are trying these herbal treatments so I'd like to give you guys a link to learn a little more about them. I am currently using A-Babs and A-Bart myself.
                                  Byron White's Formulas

Ingredients in A-Bart and what they do:

Gou Teng: This herb has been used to lower the excitability of the central nervous system. Used also in Chinese medicine for hypertension, convulsions, headache, dizziness and apoplexy. A published journal article written by scientists in the Department of Oriental Pharmaceutical Science at South Korea's Kyung Hee University found the aqueous extract of gou teng may increase serotonin levels in the brain, resulting in mood and cognitive improvements, as well as help in the treatment of OCD, IBS, fibromyalgia, depression and anxiety.
Neem: This herb's anti-viral, anti bacterial and anti-fungal effects are well documented. Evidence exists for its use in pneumonia, ulcers, gout, diabetes, hypertension, skin infection and wound healing. The essential fatty acid content in Neem is high.
Grapefruit Seed: Grapefruit seed is considered therapeutic against hundreds of different bacteria, virus, parasite and fungal strains. The extract from the seeds helps inhibit intestinal infections while balancing healthy bacteria. It is a strong antioxidant with high nutrient values, including biotin and Vitamin C. It also is helpful with lymphatic drainage and elimination of toxins.
Indian Sarsaparilla: This herb has its action on circulation, autoimmunity, joint disease, digestive issues and viral infections. It is potentially most important as a rich nutrient and alkaloid source. For example, this provides saponin, panillin, cetyl-alcohol, cobolt, pollinstanol selenium, smilagenin, stigmasterol, zinc and Beta and Epsilon-sitosterol.
Poke Root: Poke root helps detox the lymphatic system. It stimulates production of B and T immune cells and is active as an anti- inflammatory, anti-viral and antibacterial agent. Rich in alkaloids that produce antihistamine effects, it also increases the brain's production of GABA.
Licorice: Licorice binds to many types of neurotoxins, making it important as a detoxification agent. It contains mucogenic agents that soothe stomach and duodenal ulcers. It has been used in the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome, and may have antiviral effects.
Garlic: Garlic functions as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial and metabolic agent. It has historically been used as an anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-spirochete, anti-septic, diaphoretic, diuretic, expectorant and heavy metal chelator. It supports liver detoxification and decreases LDL cholesterol. It is a cardiovascular tonic, helps with the biosynthesis of fatty acids and phospholipids, and acts as an anti-clotting agent.
Clove: This herb acts as a tonic, febrifuge, antiseptic and anti-fungal with anti-parasitic activity. Usnea: This herb is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial that affects viruses, protozoa, Candida, trichamonas, Chlamydia and other microorganisms.

You are not alone in this fight.

You are not alone in this fight. If you have Lyme Disease never give up. You never know if there may be a cure around the corner!

Worst things about having Lyme Disease

I think the worst thing about having Lyme Disease is the loss of everything, I mean not just your health, but your friends,  your job, your ability to do things with your kids. And then that results in guilt. Guilt for not being able to be there for people, or do things that they expect you to do. Of course, it is all compounded by the fact that we "look normal." So people expect us to "act" normal, even if inside we are crumbling.

The relentless, never ending, always changing symptoms just make it impossible to plan anything or know how long you can stay somewhere, even if you are able to get there. Just don't know when and what they will be when the symptoms appear. And some days the symptoms are tolerable, you can function with them, and others, they just make you completely dysfunctional. It's hard to "just be" on those days.

Really great news everyone!!

Really great news everyone!!

The state of WI. Dept. of Safety and Professionalism has reached an agreement with Dr. H and his attorney. It appears Dr. H's license is no longer in jeopardy. He will continue practicing.

We DO NOT have to attend the Hearing on the 16th of Nov.

It seems clear that over 2,000 petition signatory's {with comments} along with hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of patient testimonials had an effect on the WI. Med Board and the Office of Safety and Professionalism. Many people were working on this behind the curtain and we thank them sincerely. However, YOU, the "People Have Spoken" and you've made yourselves loud and clear.

More details will be posted as they become available but it appears:

A. Dr. H's license is no longer in jeopardy.
B. Folks DO NOT have to attend the Hearing on the 16th.

Petition For Dr Hoffman

http://whatislyme.com/another-lyme-doctor-under-attack/

Another Lyme doctor is under attack again from the medical board!
Please sign this petition to show support for Dr Hoffmann.
http://www.change.org/petitions/save-dr-hoffmans-license

The medical board will be having a hearing on Wed Nov 16th at 8:30 am. It will be held at the Wisconsin Dept of Regulation and Licensing Building at 1400 E West Washington Ave. Room 121A, Madison Wi 53703. We are all going to show up at 7am to show our support. Make a sign stating why you are there to support Dr Hoffman.

More Details:

Everyone,

It has come to our attention that Dr. Hoffmann has received a letter from the School of Medicine & Public Health {U of Wisconsin-Madison}. Dr. Hoffmann was required to attend a Physician Assessment Center. Dr. Hoffmann has completed all tasks that were required of him. The final report as filed by the doctor’s that observed him found him deficient in:

* Patient interviewing and communication skills

* Record Keeping

* Overall Fund of Medical Knowledge

* Mental deficiency due to diagnostic procedures and hesitant speech patterns

35 years of practicing medicine and they don’t like the way he speaks.

Based upon these findings the WI. Department of Safety and Professionalism {specifically, lead investigator Arthur Thexton} has issued a petition to have Dr. Hoffmann’s medical license suspended immediately pending a final decision by the WI. Medical Examining Board.

I want to clarify that this has nothing to do with Dr. Hoffmann’s lyme treatment regimens or any lyme patients whatsoever.

In fact the School of Medicine & Public Health states in their letter to Dr. Hoffmann… “A significant portion of his practice is treating patients with chronic lyme disease. His patients often come from hours away to see him. In the broader medical community, the diagnosis and treatment of chronic lyme disease is controversial: however, he appears to adhere to diagnostic and testing protocols that have been developed by medical groups with interest in this area of medicine.”

We’re requesting that ALL of Dr. Hoffmann’s past and present patients please write an e-mail on his behalf immediately.

In your e-mail, please state:

1. How you were misdiagnosed

2. How Dr. Hoffmann’s treatment has helped you progress

3. The effect Dr. Hoffmann’s treatment has had on you and your family.

4. How removal of Dr. Hoffmann’s license would effect you and your family.

Once your e-mail is completed please paste these e-mail addresses and send to all of them collectively. {Subject line; Dr. Hoffmann}

*Dept. of Safety and Professional Services DRLOfficeOfTheSecretary@wisconsin.gov

*{If you wish to write a letter, Arthur Thexton’s fax 608-266-2264}

*Rep. Kevin Petersen {Waupaca} rep.petersen@legis.wi.gov

*WI. Medical Examining Board DRLBoards@wisconsin.gov

We must have everyone write immediately on Dr. Hoffmann’s behalf. I would ask other Doctor’s, medical people and support group members that are familiar with Dr. Hoffmann to write an e-mail on his behalf.

They can pass an order to suspend his license immediately and then go through the years long, laborious process to get it reinstated. I spoke personally with Doc last evening regarding this matter and he’s devastated. The man can’t even afford an attorney. Of course, what doctor could charging $100 per-office visit and taking Medicare and Medicaid patients ? It’s time we gave back to him.

Distribute this far and wide so we can reach out to all of Doc’s patients.

Thank you,

Mike Nickel

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Boston IDSA guidelines Protest was a huge success!! Over 80 Lyme patients or family supporters showed up to protest in front of the Boston Conference Center. When we first got there an officer walked over to see what was going on. We told him and he said someone in his family is affected by lyme also. It was smooth sailling from there. We all gathered right across the street from the conference center with signs and chanting, "IDSA, our Lyme Disease won't go away." Throughout the day IDSA doctors came over to either take pictures or video, some to talk to us, and one that yelled at us and called us crazy. (Durland Fish Phd). But that's ok, we got our points across. I was really pleased that some actually seemed genuinely interested in what we going through and wanted to hear about the research not only about Lyme but about the co-infections. Job well done fellow lymie! See you next year at the next one in California!

IDSA Protest

Hope to see you all in Boston this weekend! Hope everyone is feeling well and able to make it!

Remember, this is a peaceful protest. We will have signs and chant but now yelling, no doing anything that could jeopardize the points we are trying to make. We want to make them aware that the science that Lyme is Persistant is out there. We need them to review and change their guidelines! Lives are counting on it.
